Here at Citrix, we pride ourselves on being an industry leader in enterprise-grade application delivery infrastructure. But what does enterprise-grade actually mean? For us, that means building a product that is highly configurable and functional at scale, enabling administrators to easily manage their environments across multiple sites. Enterprise administrators face no easy task managing deployments that span continents, deployment models, and access methods – all while maintaining security and a seamless end user experience. All together, this is no easy task.
Our latest public tech preview, DaaS centralized site management, is designed with enterprise administrators in mind. Previously, admins and support staff who maintained multiple Citrix Cloud tenants had to continuously switch between Citrix Cloud accounts to do daily tasks. This adds unnecessary clicks and time to daily workflows. That is why we have introduced new centralized site management, which allows you to connect your sites in a hub and spoke model, with up to 4 secondary sites – allowing administrators to centrally manage their DaaS sites.
Let’s explore the admin and end user improvements further.
Improved admin experience
Connecting multiple DaaS sites is as simple as choosing ‘Add’ under ‘Centralize site management’ and choosing which sites you want to add!
Once your sites have been connected, you will see a drop-down option with all of your aggregated sites. The primary will be tagged, as shown below:
This drop down is available within Citrix Studio, to enable administrators to switch natively between sites without having to change accounts. No more context switching, no more wasting time clicking between consoles. Studio for every site, through the centralized site management with quick switch capabilities. All administrators will have the ability to access the centralized sites, based on their account permissions.
Site centralization is a huge win for help desk staff as well. With this feature, support staff can access a unified Monitor console with universal search. Support staff can access all the necessary user information, right in one console. Managing help desk tickets has never been easier within Citrix Cloud.
Unified end user access
We’ve talked about the benefits for administrators, but what’s in it for the end users?
Not only does this aggregation make administration easier, but it also streamlines end user resource access. Prior to this feature, users who had access to resources in multiple DaaS tenants had to access multiple Workspace URLs to launch their mission critical applications. Now, with site aggregation, this can be simplified down to one Workspace URL via the primary site.
No more memorizing different URLs or remembering where to get each resource. A single, unified portal to get everything you need. A win win for end users and administrators.
An important note is that end user resource aggregation is optional. If you do not wish to aggregate end user resources, choose ‘Add DaaS sites only’ when centralizing site management.
