In reply to Jose Brenes. Understood but we need this for on-prem and not hosted by a CSP. Plus we are an enterprise customer and deal directly with our Citrix Account Manager for licensing, not a CSA.

In reply to Chris Gibbs. Chris, this type of licensing has been available from Citrix for a number of years already. It is provided by Citrix Partners enrolled in the Citrix Service Provider (CSP) program. CSP provides a pay per use licensing model. Maybe your Citrix partner is in the CSA program only which only sells licenses based on annual subscriptions.

In reply to Andreas. Hi Andreas, thank you for your feedback. We definitely understand that a number of applications are solely on prem, that is an important distinction. With the ability to leverage hybrid deployments and publish on-premises applications alongside DaaS desktops, organizations have the ability to choose DaaS or VDI, or leverage both.

What I don’t see in this blog is the view on the applications. Only a few business applications have already been migrated to the cloud, many applications still have their backends in local data centres. For me, this is an important factor in deciding between Daas and (On-prem) VDI.

When will Citrix be able to offer subscription model licensing to better align with subscription services or when hybrid licensed customers place VDI instances in their cloud provider of choice? If we need a Citrix license for 3 months for seasonal workers we end up having to pay for an annual license and SA for it.
